Day 1 Union Conference – highlighting PPM

The biggest gathering of EndTB and lung professionals is on its way in welcoming Bali with a fantastic program. It is great to see people connect and share learnings, and wonderful to greet the many TBPPM community members.

The opening session highlighted that the people with TB need to be at the center of all our efforts in TB science, plans and implementation. Advocates raised their voices of price reductions of treatment and the need to increase funding.

As part of the many sessions on the first day, participants got insights in the host-country’s strides towards Universal Health Coverage. Rapid progress is being made in covering the country with health insurance policies. The contributions of private hospitals and private providers in TB programs has increased through strategic purchasing and payment schemes, and lots of potential remains. Indonesia is paving the way for many others!

The PPM Working Group Core Group met at the end of the day, discussing the workplan for 2025. The new core-group had many suggestions of focus, including further expanding the PPM Dashboards beyond the big 7 PPM countries, writing out case-studies and articles, and developing the updated PPM Roadmap with related tools.

The TBPPM Booth is up in the Community Connect area and it is wonderful to meet many members of the community. Come pick up some bookmarks, a key-chain and materials from the India chapter.

More from the Conference tomorrow Wednesday 13 November, where we look forward to seeing you at the Community Connect Session on Empowering Communities in Public-Private Mix Models for Ending TB in India!
