Report & Recording of Engage, empower and support informal TB care-givers

Published on August 2, 2024

In this Webinar, we highlight caregivers' important role for people with TB, often voluntarily. Who provides caregiving may be influenced by the TB epidemic with two-thirds of people with TB globally accounting for men with a significant burden among transgender and gender-diverse individuals. What is caregiving? Ongoing assistance with daily activities for someone who experiences life changes that burden their health and well-being, which may include emotional and social support. Often this assistance is provided by family members, friends, and/or community members who are not skilled health and social service professionals. The pool of caregivers is decreasing globally yet needs to persist or even grow due to aging populations, increased non-communicable diseases, mental health and the persistence of severe infectious illnesses like TB.
