TBPPM Moments at Union Conference 2023

Published on November 21, 2023

The Union World Conference on Lung Health 2023 took place from November 15th to 18th, 2023. A notable addition to this year's conference was the introduction of a dedicated track focused on private sector engagement titled 'H3: Systems for private sector engagement in TB'. While not as prominently highlighted as other themes, the incorporation of sessions across various tracks embracing private sector engagement emphasized its increasing importance in the efforts to eradicate TB.

Active participation from community members and alumni of the TBPPM learning program was observed throughout the conference, with their involvement in multiple sessions and oral abstract presentations. The impact of involving private providers and PPM in transforming TB prevention and care was evident, showcasing positive advancements.

The TBPPM Learning Network proudly hosted an exclusive booth in the Community Connect Space during the conference. This space provided an excellent opportunity to connect with partners, collaborators, and the broader community, fostering valuable interactions.

Additionally, attendees had the chance to obtain limited edition TBPPM T-shirts to support advocacy for a Tuberculosis Zero world, furthering the cause.

A significant highlight for the TBPPM Learning Network was the launch of the TBPPM Virtual field visits from India. These immersive experiences allowed the audience to virtually explore India alongside three intermediary organizations actively engaged in the fight against TB through collaborations with private providers, showcasing impactful initiatives aimed at ending TB.

All in all, the Union Conference was a fantastic gathering of like-minded people, discussing plans and ideas to end TB. What a joy to meet and greet so many of our TBPPM community in person! And we missed all of you who were not able to join this time around.
