TBPPM- Learning Network, India Chapter and the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine join forces to eliminate TB in India through PPM activities
The TB-PPM Learning Network, India Chapter (TBPPM-LN India) and the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM) have signed a letter of Agreement on 31 August 2022. The vision of this collaboration is to establish work on priorities related to mid-long-term strategic goals of the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP) to eliminate TB in India through PPM activities. TBPPM-LN India is an offshoot of the global TBPPM Learning network and was established to strengthen the community of PPM practitioners and implementers in India. The IASPM is a national-level professional body in the field of Community Medicine/Public health in India and an important stakeholder of the NTEP. Both organizations share the vision of offering technical support for the TB-PPM agenda in the country and will now join hands to support NTEP's efforts around this agenda.

“India’s goal to End TB by 2025 cannot be done alone. It would require partnering with the private sector and many other stakeholders. This allyship with TBPPM LN-India is an important step towards building such partnerships,” Dr Purushottam Giri, Secretary General, National IAPSM.
“The TBPPM-LN India has been a strong voice of the PPM action in the country, aligning with the goals of the NTEP. We welcome this agreement with the TBPPM LN-India. This collaboration will provide a better understanding of the PPM landscape in India and help strengthen the capacity of TB-PPM implementers in the documentation and dissemination of the knowledge and the best practices” Dr Bhavesh Modi, Chairperson, IAPSM-NTEP Core Committee.
“As the country prepares to end TB by 2025, this new agreement is a welcome development and one that will help us move closer to the goal. The IAPSM network has expertise and professionals that will help document lessons on private provider engagement in TB care and management. We also hope to collaborate on training and knowledge materials and widely disseminate the latest TB information and practices in TB-PPM,” said Dr Vijayashree Yellappa, Chair of TBPPM-LN India. “The TBPPM Learning Network has always been a collaborative effort; such partnerships strengthen that.” added Dr. Yellappa.
This collaboration between the organizations will highlight mutual interest and further the momentum to promote PPM activities supporting the elimination of TB in the country.
