TBPPM Annual Report 2023

Published on September 12, 2024

2023 was a pivotal year for TB, because of the UN High Level Meeting (UNHLM). The TBPPM Learning Network supported the overall campaign to advocate to End TB and brought members together around the key topics and trends linked to the UNHLM and TB (details/ links available in section 4).  This illustrates how the Learning Network stays flexible and tuned in on overall global discussions, while at the same time remaining focused on pushing the PPM agenda forward first amongst ‘implementers’.

In 2023, large meetings and conferences resumed for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing people to return to their workplaces and travel schedules while continuing to use online networks to a lesser extent. We had the opportunity to meet in person with many of our community members. The Global PPM Working Group met in Paris in November to discuss private provider engagement, reviewing progress at various levels by sharing best practices, discussing PPM monitoring and accountability, and setting priorities for implementing the 2023 UNHLM on TB. The Union Conference 2023 provided a valuable opportunity for TBPPM Learning Network members to meet in person for the first time after years of online interaction, facilitating networking and PPM visibility through the TBPPM booth in the Community Connect space. The conference also introduced a new track on "Health Systems Strengthening," with a sub-track focusing on private and corporate sector engagement in TB, enhancing the visibility of PPM within health system discussions.
