Welcoming new PPM Working Group leadership

Great energy and participation from around the world during the Global Meeting of the StopTB PPM Working Group in Dhaka on June 25-26, and the PPM Dashboard meeting, 27 June, following the Multisectoral Accountability Framework (MAF) Forum 23-24 June. All events were hosted by the World Health Organization in a well-managed program (Read the full WHO Newsflash).

The PPM Working Group established a new Core-Group and welcomed new leadership of Dr Mohammed Yassin as Chair and Dr. Vijayashree Yellappa as Vice Chair. A diverse group of dynamic implementers, program managers and academics, representing the Big7 high-TB/ large private sector countries and several other partners. Congratulations to all! We are looking forward to collaborating with you and taking PPM actions to the next level as part of our online community.


The meetings included presentations, discussions, roundtables, a PPM marketplace with country and partner posters and field visits to PPM sites. The latter showcased the on-ground action of the engagement of private providers in Dhaka. Partner organizations BRAC and icddr,b hosted participants in field projects, and other participants visited hospitals, including Birhem hospital illustrating integration of Diabetes and TB services. Excellent examples of the role of private sector stakeholders in contributing to Ending TB.   

Following these great in-person connections, we are looking forward to taking details forward on the online platform within the wider community.
